How Much Do Ceramic Implants Cost in Dubai? What Affects the Price

What affects the price of ceramic implants

The short answer: In Dubai, a single ceramic (zirconia) implant — including the implant itself, the abutment and the final crown — typically costs between AED 12,000 and AED 20,000. That is roughly 50–80% more than an equivalent titanium implant, which in reputable Dubai clinics usually runs AED 6,000–12,000 for a complete restoration. The difference comes from the material itself, the limited number of certified ceramic implant systems, and the additional training required to place zirconia correctly. If a quote for a "ceramic implant" is dramatically below this range, it almost always refers to a zirconia crown on a titanium implant — not a true metal-free ceramic implant.

Here is what actually determines the price, what should be included in an honest quote, and how to compare offers without being misled.

First, a common misunderstanding: ceramic implant vs ceramic crown

Many advertised "zirconia implant" prices in Dubai — some as low as AED 2,000–3,500 — describe a zirconia crown placed on a standard titanium implant. The visible tooth is ceramic; the screw in your bone is still metal.

A true ceramic implant means the implant body itself — the artificial root inside your jawbone — is made of zirconia. If metal-free treatment is your goal, this distinction is everything. When comparing quotes, always ask: "Is the implant fixture itself zirconia, or only the crown?"

What a complete ceramic implant treatment includes

A transparent quote should cover the full journey, not just the surgery:

  1. Consultation and diagnostics — clinical examination and a CBCT 3D scan (in Dubai typically AED 300–500 if billed separately). Proper 3D planning is not optional with ceramic implants.

  2. The implant fixture — a certified zirconia implant from a Swiss or German manufacturer. These systems cost clinics significantly more than standard titanium implants.

  3. The surgical procedure — placement by the implantologist, in my practice performed under a biological protocol including PRF (platelet-rich fibrin from your own blood) to support healing.

  4. The abutment and final crown — with ceramic implants, the full restoration is metal-free from root to crown.

  5. Follow-up visits — healing checks and final adjustments.

If any of these are missing from a quote, the "low price" will grow later.

The five factors that move the price

1. The implant system. Certified zirconia implants come from a small group of specialised manufacturers, mostly Swiss and German. They cost more to produce than titanium and there is no true "budget" ceramic implant — which is a good thing for patients.

2. The implantologist's training and experience. Zirconia is less forgiving of planning errors than titanium. Placing it well requires specific training and case experience — this is exactly the situation where the cheapest surgeon is the most expensive decision.

3. Your clinical situation. Sufficient healthy bone means a straightforward case. If you need bone regeneration, a sinus lift, or extraction of a failing tooth first, the total treatment cost rises — regardless of implant material.

4. Diagnostics and protocol. A biological approach adds elements that basic implantology skips: 3D planning, PRF, biocompatibility considerations, and in some cases metal sensitivity testing before treatment.

5. Clinic standard and location. Dubai clinic tiers differ significantly — and so do sterilisation standards, equipment and materials. You are not only paying for the implant; you are paying for everything around it.

Ceramic vs titanium: the cost difference in context

Is the 50–80% premium worth it? That depends on what you are optimising for. Ceramic implants offer metal-free biocompatibility, superior gum response, less plaque accumulation and no risk of grey metal showing at the gum line. I compare both materials honestly, point by point, in a separate guide.

One way to think about it: an implant is placed once and should serve you for decades. Spread over 20+ years, the price difference between ceramic and titanium is small — the consequences of the choice are not.

Does insurance cover ceramic implants in the UAE?

Usually not fully. Basic UAE health plans classify implants as an elective procedure and exclude them. Some enhanced plans with "major dental" or prosthodontic coverage reimburse a portion of implant treatment up to an annual cap — this varies by insurer and policy. Always check your Schedule of Benefits and request pre-authorisation before starting. I cover UAE dental insurance in detail in a separate article.

Red flags when comparing quotes in Dubai

  • A "zirconia implant" priced like a crown — see the distinction above; ask what exactly is zirconia.

  • A quote that excludes the crown — some clinics advertise the surgical placement only; the crown adds thousands of dirhams later.

  • No CBCT scan in the plan — placing any implant without 3D imaging is a shortcut you do not want.

  • No named implant brand — you have the right to know exactly which implant system will be in your body, and whether it carries a manufacturer warranty.

  • Pressure to decide immediately — a serious treatment plan survives a week of thinking.

Frequently asked questions

Why are ceramic implants more expensive than titanium? Three reasons: the zirconia implant systems themselves cost more to manufacture and certify; fewer implantologists are trained to place them, so the expertise is scarcer; and ceramic implantology is typically practised within a more comprehensive biological protocol (3D planning, PRF, biocompatible materials throughout).

Is a cheaper ceramic implant abroad a good alternative? Price-shopping across countries makes sense for some procedures, but implant treatment is a months-long process with follow-ups. Splitting it between countries means no single doctor is responsible for the final result. If you live in Dubai, being treated where you live has real clinical value.

Can I pay in instalments? Many Dubai clinics, including ours, can arrange payment plans — ask during the consultation.

How do I get an exact price for my case? Only a consultation with a CBCT scan can produce a real treatment plan and a binding quote. Anything before that is an estimate.
